Laundry rooms are one of the most frequented areas of your home. This means that you should be able to have a well organized space to store everything you need for all of your laundry needs. There are several organization solutions you can use to make laundry go that much smoother.
Shelves & Cubbies
One of the simplest ways to organize your laundry room is to add some shelves and cubbies. By hanging them above and around your washer and dryer, you will have everything with-in arms reach. The only issue is that since they are open storage spaces, you’ll want to keep them clean and uncluttered. If you are looking to make a cute, chic laundry room, the nice part about having open shelving is that you can get alternative dispensers and jars to keep things like laundry detergent, fabric softener, dryer sheets, etc. This will bump up the visual appeal of your laundry room.
Bins
Along with shelves and cubbies, you can get various bins to keep your towel/rags, paper towels, extra supplies, or anything else that would benefit from being put into a bin. There are many many options out there to choose from, adding another layer of personalization.
Cabinets
If you’d rather keep all your laundry supplies out of sight, you can just simply get a wall cabinet above your washer and dryer. You may still want to invest in bins to keep certain items organized.
Hamper Organizer
With all the different loads of laundry- lights, darks, hand wash, etc- it’s nice to have plenty of different baskets to separate these clothes. That way, when you are throwing clothes into your washer, they are already properly organized.
Folding Station
Although not necessary, a folding station can give you a great space to separate everyone’s clothes and fold them. By better organizing clean clothes based on whose and what type, you can streamline putting clothes away.
Rolling Cart
If you don’t have wall space to store all of your laundry supplies, a great way to add storage is to get a rolling cart. There are several ways you can do this. One option is to get a narrow cart that can slide in-between your washer and dryer. Or you can opt for a larger cart that can have multiple functions such as a folding station, drying rack, ironing board, etc. You can also have an open cart or one with doors. The possibilities are endless.
Hooks and Hanging Bars
A simple storage solution to add to your laundry room is some wall hooks. This gives you a place to hang some of the less used laundry accessories, such as bags for delicate items or dryer balls. Hanging bars give you extra space to hang dress shirts and other items. So once you iron your shirts, then you have a convenient place to hang them.
Drying Rack
When you wash those delicate clothing items, it’s great to have a drying rack to efficiently air dry them. There are two options for drying rack, either a wall rack or collapsible rack. What you go with mostly depends on what space you have. If you have a laundry room with no wall space or enough floor space, you should get a collapsible one. When not using the drying rack, it’s easy to store it either on a hook on the wall, or hide it in a small space, such as next to or in between your washer and dryer units. If you have the wall space go for a wall rack. There are several styles that can even fit into your home’s decor.
Accessories
When transforming your laundry room into a well organized space, remember about the small things too. Things like getting a lint bin, decor, and other personal items can make your laundry room just as cute as the rest of your home.
