- Check for drafts and leaks around windows and doors.

- Take care of your property by fertilizing the lawn to help it grow back faster and healthier in the spring.
- Trim back trees, bushes, and other plants from roof, windows, or power lines.
- Clean up the fallen leaves.
- Clean out flower beds and gardens. You can also plant bulbs for springtime.
- Check and replace batteries in smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors.
- Check that your fire extinguishers are charged.
- Get your HVAC system serviced/cleaned.
- Turn off outdoor plumbing. Also drain outdoor faucets and sprinklers so that they do not freeze over winter.
- Get your snow blower and ice melt ready for winter.
- Fix any cracks in your concrete or asphalt.
- Clean your fireplace and chimney. Also stock up on firewood.
- Clean and organize your garage and/or shed.
- Reprogram your thermostat.
- Cover your outdoor furniture or bring it inside.
- Make sure that exterior wall water pipes are insulated to prevent freezing.
- Empty fuel from summer lawn equipment.
- Remove window air conditioner units.
- Add weather stripping.
- Deep clean the kitchen.
- Clean dryer vents.
- Clean furnace filter.
